You never know what God will do through the stories we tell of His work and His people. Galen explains with this Global Story

Welcome to “The Global Story,” a weekly glimpse into how God is at work through the global Body of Christ. This is Galen from Global Disciples.

We love to share the stories we hear from disciple-makers around the world, to tell you how God is multiplying churches and building the Body of Christ through indigenous missionaries. To introduce you to bold followers of Jesus who are willing to go to the hard and difficult places to tell others of His love and salvation.

But we don’t always know what God does with these stories once we’ve shared them with you. Occasionally a comment from a friend or a Global Disciples partner lets us know what has inspired or encouraged them. So when we hear a story like this one – well, it’s worth sharing.

Several months ago, one of our staff here in Lancaster got a note from a friend and supporter who loves our Global Disciples stories. This mother had a specific request: Did you have any stories that would illustrate God’s care and protection for His people when they were dealing with persecution or opposition? Her son had become fearful about persecution. He worried about what he might face and what believers around the world were suffering. And his struggle had his parents concerned.

Well, our staff gathered some of our stories that reflected times when God intervened and protected believers facing difficulties, or who were threatened by those who wanted to harm the Body of Christ. And we sent them on to this family. They shared them with their son at bedtime, as a reminder of God’s power and faithfulness, and the courage of those who follow Christ. A few weeks later, we had a note from the mother; the stories had been a big help. And her young boy said, “God gave me a miracle through these stories. I’m not afraid anymore.”

What a blessing to hear! God uses His stories – and His people – to build the faith of one young boy. And we trust Him to use these stories to continue inspiring, encouraging, and challenging His people here…and around the world…to be part of His work of multiplication until “the knowledge of God’s glory covers the earth as the waters cover the sea.”
