Sometimes the Holy Spirit has to do a work in a person’s heart before He sends them out on mission. Galen shows us one example with this Global Story…
Welcome to “The Global Story,” a weekly glimpse into how God is at work through the global Body of Christ. This is Galen from Global Disciples.
Have you ever met someone with the passion and potential to serve the Lord, but something is holding him or her back? It’s not finances, or education, or even opportunity. It’s something in their heart that God has to deal with.
Tarun came to participate in one of our discipleship-mission training programs in Nepal. He had a desire to plant churches, and he wanted to be trained to make disciples among his people. During the training, the Holy Spirit began to convict him. And Tarun realized that if he wanted to be used by God as he dreamed, he needed to repent of some things in his life.
So Tarun went to his program director and asked him and the others at the training to pray for him. As they got ready to pray, he suddenly stood up and publically confessed to many sins impacting his relationships and integrity. He repented right then and there, asking God to forgive him for all his sins. The director and other leaders prayed for Tarun, assuring him that in Jesus, he can know forgiveness and cleansing.
After seeking restoration, Tarun’s heart was set free and his life was transformed. And this new understanding of God’s grace and forgiveness has deepened his passion to reach others with the Good News of Jesus. After the training, he went home and began to tell people about Jesus. His training director reported that Tarun has since planted a new fellowship of believers in his village with 20 to 30 new disciples worshipping together.
As Global Disciples, we want to see life transformation take place in every training – whether it’s in the directors we train or the disciple-makers they equip through the training programs they establish. We anticipate the Holy Spirit will remove any obstacles in hearts and lives. So we’re thrilled to hear about someone like Tarun whose heart was set right with God, with others, and who is multiplying disciples. God does so much with the life He transforms!
