This is Galen from Global Disciples. Amita is recently participated in a discipleship-mission training near her home in South Asia. She’s about 17 and in high school. In our discipleship training model, participants first train in a classroom setting then follow it with an extended period in outreach. They go out, usually as teams, to communities where the Gospel of Jesus is not yet known. When it came time for outreach, Amita…went back to school. Her mission was to share the Good News with her fellow students. And she did it in a setting where Christians are few and opposition is guaranteed. There are about 20 students in Amita’s class and her teacher is a Hindu. One day, he put Amita on the spot when he asked her, “Why was Jesus killed on the cross?” Amita saw her chance! She said she’d be happy to answer the question if he was willing to give her about 20 minutes to talk about Jesus’ life. Some students objected loudly, but the teacher overruled and Amita began to tell the story of Jesus. She took them through His birth and His ministry, His miracles and signs, how He died and rose again. Even His ascension and the promise of His return. She explained that it was by dying on the cross that Jesus gave us salvation for sin. He is the Savior and Redeemer for those who put their faith in Him. Amita simply told the story of Jesus. And some who heard it believed! Of the 2 teachers and 20 students who listened, 8 students and one of the teachers put their faith in Jesus as their Savior. And now they’re growing in their faith and preparing for baptism. Praise God! Stories like this inspire and excite us. God is using Global Disciples to equip His people. And He gives them the courage to stand up and tell His story. Pray for Amita—and thousands of disciple-makers like her, as they courageously tell the story of Jesus and multiply disciples of Christ around the world.
