What’s the best decision you’ve ever made? For one woman, it changed her direction in life, as you’ll learn with this Global Story…
Welcome to “The Global Story,” a weekly glimpse into how God is at work through the global Body of Christ. This is Galen from Global Disciples.
Luiza said, “As a child, I believed I need professional training to have a good and stable life. Even after I accepted Christ, when I was 14, I believed this. I was in the church but I never wanted to invest my time or money in the work of God because I was investing them in my education and career.”
Growing up in Brazil, Luiza had a clear focus on what she wanted in life. And after marriage, graduation, and starting her career as a nutritionist, Luiza said, “I had reached so many of my goals but I realized something was missing.”
Luiza’s pastor had been trained by Global Disciples to direct a local discipleship-mission training program. As she listened to his stories, God began to stir her heart.
“After many conversations with God,” Luiza said, “and listening to my pastor, I made the best decision of my life!” She left her job to participate in the discipleship-mission training, and she found a new sense of joy and purpose in life.
And she happily discovered that God could use her experience as a nutritionist as she went to outreach in a poor community where help was needed!
Luiza reported, “The experiences I had with the mission training were tremendous. We prayed with people, showed the love of God, and even helped to establish a church. Things I never thought I could do. I spent so much time running after a profession. But God wants to use us and enables us at the right time. I am in love with missions and happy because I can use my profession for the Kingdom of God. Now I understand the verse about looking first for the Kingdom of God, and other things will be added to you.”
Luiza made a decision to be a disciple-maker, to follow the Lord in fulfilling His Great Commission. And she learned first-hand that God doesn’t waste our experience or training. He can use it even more than we ever imagined!
