Only a Little Faith
In southern India, a discipleship-mission training program sent their participants on outreach among villages where people had little knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Most of these disciple-makers were first generation believers themselves with little education. But the Holy Spirit had empowered them during the training, and they were eager to share the Good News of Jesus with others.
Nahla was one of the leaders with the group. In one village, as they talked with people and handed out literature, they met a family whose son had suffered from a high fever for three years. They had poured all their resources into doctors and hospital tests but with no results.
When they heard the message of the disciple-makers, they said, “Let these Christians come pray for him, and we’ll see if their God is real.”
The disciples felt the weight of the challenge; in fact, Nahla was worried, but he called the team together and in fear and trembling they went to prayer. By evening, the boy’s fever had dropped.
The disciples continued to pray through the night, and by the second day, the fever was gone.
The disciple-makers moved on to another village but a week later, the boy’s family came to report their son was back to normal. They also asked Nahla’s team to return and start a church in their home! It has grown since then and a neighboring village also heard the news, and a church was planted there.
“I didn’t have much faith,” Nahla confessed, “but I needed to obey and pray.” He was so grateful to God for answering with healing, despite his lack of faith.
