When God’s People Work Together

Together. It’s a powerful word. When God’s people come together, work together, and dream together, great things can happen.

Advocates for Global Disciples share a vision to help reach least-reached people. They are excited about God’s work through Global Disciples, investing their influence to engage others in this vision. Great things are happening because advocates are working together!

In January, Florida advocates promoted engagement with Global Disciples by helping to host a dinner for 220 people, a breakfast for “snowbirds”, and speaking engagements at several churches. A Family Block Party—complete with barbecue, and a bouncy house—was the brainchild of local business leaders. They invited business-minded, mission-hearted friends to bring their families. About 140 people—including 30 kids under age 12, and their 30- and 40-something parents—enjoyed an exciting evening. Two advocates had recently visited Ethiopia with our Global team, and they shared their stories and firsthand experiences. This group is looking for similar opportunities to engage more people in the future.

A partner church in Sarasota hosted a hymn-sing and concert featuring professional tenor, Timothy Bentch (Global Disciples’ International Worship Specialist). Over 300 people came together to sing, hear stories from around the world, and praise God for the work He’s doing!  And to enjoy ice cream afterwards.

Central Illinois advocates are multiplying people who promote, provide, and pray for Global Disciples. They will host the second Celebrate the Harvest event on March 7, a multi-generational event with food, activities, reports from Global Disciples, and the outcomes of their fund-raising efforts last fall. They use a Facebook group for updates, invitations, and prayer for Global Disciples.

In Oklahoma, three pockets of advocates are sharing the vision too. One local church has taken three groups of people through a book study on Ordinary Disciples, Extraordinary Influence, resulting in personal and community outreach.

On March 18, they’re inviting churches from around the state to learn from their experience, and encourage disciple-making and the Global Disciples’ model. A regional dinner is planned for April 20, and a Oklahoma-focused Facebook group is also active.

Through Jesus, every Christian carries the heart of the Father for the lost and least-reached. Working together, advocates like these are helping others get involved in practical ways. They are amazing partners with Global Disciples. May their examples inspire you to connect with others, and together, do more to reach least-reached people with the Good News of Jesus.
